Made to the same recipe since 1591, each and every Anis de Flavigny candy conceals a real aniseed. The seeds are gradually coated in fine layers of delicately-flavoured sugar syrup over the course of two weeks.

An aniseed...

Our candies are made with Anise. This plant, Pimpinella anisum, is not to be confused with fennel (a vegetable) or with star anise (Chinese anise, the fruit of an exotic tree).
The Anise we use is an umbelliferous plant and its small oval fruits, striated longitudinally, have a warm, spicy flavor and a remarkably aromatic scent. We select our aniseeds in August, after they are harvested in Spain, Tunisia, Turkey, Syria, etc.

... sugar...

Sugar beet come from Chalon-en-Champagne in France.

... and natural flavoring.

By 1800, Anis de Flavigny were already available in a variety of flavours. Today there are 10 different natural flavours: aniseed, of course, but also blackcurrant, lemon, orange blossom, ginger, mandarin, mint, liquorice, rose and violet. Our natural flavours are extracted from plants by steam or alcohol distillation.
